NEX-5 High ISO Black and White with CV 35 Ultron

Image
We wanted to test out what the NEX-5 can do with a fast lens and low light so we got a chance to play with a Cosina Voigtlander 35mm f/1.7 Ultron. The CV 35 Ultron is a Leica screw mount with a Leica M adapter, a Leica M to Sony NEX E-mount adapter is then used. These are all handheld at f/1.7, High ISO NR = weak, long exposure NR = off, and center weighted metering. Here is the discontinued CV 35 Ultron on the NEX-5. The silver on silver looks great, we just need to convince adapter makers to make them in silver as well. The lens has a large focusing ring which is very easy to use. The 52.5mm equivalent focal length makes it an exceptional walk-around lens.

Cosina Voigtlander Sony NEX Leica Lens Adapter

Cosina Voigtlander announced that they will be making Leica M lens adapters for the Sony NEX E-mount. They will be available at the end of the month and will have an MSRP of 19,800 Yen ($228). The street price should be much less. As you can see it will come in black or silver to match your NEX body. It's great to see support for the new Sony E-mount from a major manufacturer. Thanks CV !

Sony NEX-5 with a Jupiter-3 and Nokton 40 SC Video

Here is a test video shot with a 60 year old Soviet lens, the Jupiter 3, which is a 50mm with a maximum aperture of f/1.5. At the 2:11 mark, the lens used is the Voigtlander 40mm Nokton Single Coat. Some prefer the SC model for black and white photos ove the CV 40mm Nokton MC . Sasamao used a Sony NEX E-mount to Leica M Lens adapter . Soviet Jupiter-3 50mm f/1.5 Voigtlander 40mm 1.4 Nokton SC
